Build 0.24 is out!


AUTHOR'S NOTE

It's here at last. Thanks so much to all of you for waiting two months for this. I've no idea how everything got so busy for these past two months, but the worst of it is finally over. Cheers!
This update's meatier than what you'd typically get, but it's definitely not as much as one would expect from two months' worth of work. Much of that was actually dedicated to planning out the plot points for this arc, as well as the visual and coding foundations for it. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, but I'm learning as I go (e.g. things like accounting for the player's location, keeping track of quest items and events without my mind fizzling out, adding a timer, etc etc). If there's a bug or anything breaks or doesn't flow logically, please let me know!
This heist arc is nowhere near completion (as you can probably tell just from the image preview alone). A lot of content for other rooms will be added — at a much more rapid pace now that the foundational stuff has been laid down — and hopefully it'll all tie into one nice package. Content from future builds will also tie into content getting released in this build (i.e. alternative solutions to puzzles). Things will get more complex once I'm actually done with the 'time left' system. Etcetera, etcetera. You get the picture ":D
The next month (April) will be my finals period. I don't think I'll be as overwhelmed as I was these two months, but I might still pull some time away from OIHS to study. After that (May, Jun, Jul), I'll have a 3-month summer break (at last!) and that finally gives me the space to focus entirely on OIHS like I've never had the chance to before. I'm excited to see what sort of work I can put out if I'm able to prioritise OIHS like that without juggling other commitments!
Now that's a long enough author's note. Someone mentioned they like reading these, so here ya go! :^] I'll also bring back the patch notes — but they'll be significantly redacted; I don't want to spoil too much. But I will specifically add in the encounters that have variations or alternate paths (in case you're someone who enjoys digging through them).
